StormClaim ("StormClaim," "we," "us," or "our") operates the StormClaim mobile application (the "App"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, company name, and password (handled by Firebase Authentication — we never see or store your raw password).
Location data. With your permission, the App uses your device's location (via Core Location, "when in use" only) to find storms near you and estimate damage risk to nearby properties. Location is sent to OpenWeatherMap (see "Third-Party Services" below) to retrieve current and forecasted weather conditions. We do not track your location in the background or when the App is closed.
Photos and camera access. With your permission, the App accesses your camera and photo library so you can attach damage photos to insurance claims. Photos you attach to a claim are uploaded to our Firebase Storage backend and, when you run AI damage analysis, sent to Anthropic's Claude API for automated assessment (see "Third-Party Services" below).
Claim and property data. Information you enter to create a claim — property address, loss date, damage description, policy number, insurance carrier, and adjuster/homeowner contact details you provide — is stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) associated with your account and company.
Team and company data. If you create or join a company within the App, we store your company name, team member list, roles, invite records, and any comments or activity you post on shared claims. This information is visible to other members of your company.
Usage and diagnostic data. We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the App is used and to diagnose crashes. This includes device type, OS version, app version, general usage events (e.g., "claim created," "carrier filed"), and crash logs. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.
We share the minimum data necessary with the following third parties to provide App functionality:
| Service | Data shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Analytics, Crashlytics) | Account info, claim data, photos, usage/crash data | Core backend infrastructure |
| Anthropic (Claude API) | Claim photos you submit for AI analysis; text extracted from carrier estimate documents you choose to import | Automated damage assessment and estimate line-item extraction |
| OpenWeatherMap | Location coordinates (latitude/longitude) | Real-time and forecasted weather/storm data |
| Insurance carriers, adjusters, homeowners | Claim PDF and the information you choose to include | Only when you explicitly send or share a claim report — we do not automatically transmit claim data to any insurance carrier |
We do not sell your personal information.
We retain claim data for as long as your account is active, plus 6 months afterward. This retention period may be extended in the future as our recordkeeping needs evolve; this policy will be updated if it changes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see "Contact Us").
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Contact us using the information below to exercise these rights.
The App is intended for professional contractors and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We use industry-standard practices (Firebase Authentication, encrypted transport, scoped Firestore/Storage security rules) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
